Hi guys!
So, today we decided now's as good a time as any to start our adventures about the city. We had spotted this indian resturant in the Kenaston strip malls a while back, and were interested in trying it. Originally, Jess suggested we just drive until we found something that looked interesting. It's probably a good thing we ended up agreeing on just going to Clay Oven, because both of us were quite hungry.
It's a really nice resturant, better then you'd think you'd find in the middle of a strip mall. From the outside it looks like it'll be really small and like a diner, but inside it's a different story. It was busy, which was a good sign, if they all like the food, we might too.
We were seated right away at a small two person booth, and our order was taken rather quickly considering how busy they were. The food didn't take long to come out either. Alex opted for Chicken Vindaloo, and Jess got Spicy Chili Chicken. There was a considerable amount of food; Two large peices of Naan bead each, an unlimited supply of rice, and our seperate bowls of chicken dishes.
At medium heat, the Spicy Chili Chicken was (to Jess) about an 8 on a scale from 1-10. It was really flavorful aside from the heat, with red and green bell peppers and bean sprouts mixed in. The naan bread may be a bit of a surprise to anyone who hasn't had it. It's got a chewy texture, rather then crispy and fluffy on the inside like it looks. Still, the meal was delicious.
The Chicken Vindaloo - Medium. A personal favorite of his. Big chunks of chicken and potato swimming in a sea of Vindaloo sauce, served in a beautiful ornate bowl. Vindaloo is a tomato based curry sauce, cumin (whole toasted seeds in the sauce), coriander, and, usually, killer hot. Chicken was perfectly cooked, soft, tender, fall apart. Pilled onto the house rice, scooped up with a torn piece of Naan Bread, so amazing. Needless to say he was nearly licking the bowl clean before long.
Over all, the prices were great, with a meal totalling under $50 (tip and all). We think we'll definately be back for seconds.
WARNING: This is not a graceful food! You may not want to wear white.
Spice phobics worry not! They offer their dishes in Mild, Medium, and Hot. Something for all.
Amazing! I for sure have never seen that place. =) I'll have to keep an eye out for it. =) It sounds delicious!
